The Perpetual Distraction Of This Reality

study-distractions

We live in a society with seemingly endless things to do. We begin to do one thing earnestly and make progress towards completing this thing. However, we then suddenly jump ship to something else and leave what we have done as an unfinished article. We then continue this pattern, until we get to a stage where we still have so much to do yet hardly anything done. The issues just keep mounting up. We are doing so much yet we are doing so little. What is going on?

Perpetual Faller

It appears what is going here is that we giving into to every turn of the tide. As soon as something new comes across our path, we latch onto it like a rag doll. We are now at the mercy of these distractions, which, I might add are actually entirely off our own making. They are the results of the repression off internal energies and thoughts. Repression always lead to things coming back ten-fold, and more often than not, this is the reason why we are constantly being dragged into things.

Another part of it procrastination. Things in life are meant to be challenging, and this is what teaches us to grow. However, what happens for a lot of people, is when faced with this difficulty, they switch off. The talents inherent within are shunned and one quickly looks for a route to do something else. This is a real shame, because if we had truly and diligently poured our heart into this difficulty, we would have found the solution.

Perpetual Loser

So what happens when we don’t find the solution?

Well its quite clear we end up with a lot of things half done. Our life appears to be a series of fits and farts. Despite starting many ventures, we just never complete them. To make matters worse, things keep piling up and we become overwhelmed. This is when we throw in the towel and the cycle starts all over again.

Something has got to give.

How to be a perpetual WINNER

The first step to changing anything, is understanding that there is a problem in the first place. We have to acknowledge that we are stuck in a cycle in life, and make the conscious intention to break it. It won’t be easy, but I guarantee you that it will be worth it.

Step 1 – Remove all sources of distraction

The first thing we need to do is completely cut ourselves away from distractions. Would-be recovering alcoholics, often make it a practice to eliminate all sources of alcohol from the house. Dieters also do something similar, by removing all garbage food from the cupboards and replacing with healthy options.

Simply put, you need to get away to the forest to recover, and allow yourself the time away from these painful distractions

Step 2 – Observe the distraction

Re-introduce yourself to being around these distractions, as the period of cutting away should not be too long, lest you commit escapism. Observe the distractions as they arise, and fully accept it. Do not act on them, just breathe and observe. You will eventually come to realise that you actually have the power to decide over these things, and it is your choice. Completely surrender to it, without acting. Here you will realise your true power.

Step 3 – Realise that this will help you learn

The final stage will be to understand and comprehend the distraction in such a manner, that you can actually use it to aid you. Here the master will love when he encounters a distraction. Although he may fall, he will learn many valuable lessons from this and eventually see distraction for what it is. Neither good nor bad, simply a tool to help with the development of one’s loftier pursuits.

The Simple Life

A simple life may be exactly what is missing in the world. Our lives are clogged up by lots of things to do and lots to think about. We are kept in a perpetual state of busyness when in essence we are in a very idle state. We think we are achieving something but later down the line we kind of realize just how much of our lives we have wasted.

CONTRASTING LIVES

We often hear stories of those in the poorest regions of the world; who have nothing to their name; who are walking in feces and swimming in infested waters; who have little to eat or drink; and who wake up every day not knowing if they will be alive at the end of it; it is often these people that are the most happiest. They seem to truly appreciate the small things in life. They realize life is too short to spend in an unnatural state, and often they find their truest version of themselves, they find salvation.

On the other hand, here you have the rich man. He has endless abundance you can only wish for; unlimited amounts of money, women, items; a big house; a fleet of cars; a cult-like following worldwide; yet these people are actually some of the most depressed people on Earth. They spend their time taking endless amounts of drugs and doing all sorts of crazy things to keep the pain of life away. In essence, they are never satisfied with life and always want more; and once they achieve what they set out to, they feel empty, it just was not as it seems. You will hear a lot on the news how these people end up committing suicide or some accident occurs; despite their abundance, they are living their own funeral.

Why is this the case? Surely it should be the other way round?

Life works in mysterious ways

THE GETAWAY

I have often heard in many religious scriptures and eastern philosophy of how simple lives use to be in the past. People would live with just enough to eat and would spend their time perfecting their use of reason; being good people, doing good things, thinking clean thoughts, in essence purifying their souls. Is it a coincidence that many of us end up seeking out these regions to ‘find ourselves’?

The life a lot of people live now is full of doing things. Always busy, so much to do, and as the common saying goes ‘It’s always good to be busy’. But is it?

Being busy doing things which in 5/10/20 years’ time you will despise?

Meditation

It’s clear something is wrong here

EXTERNALS WILL NEVER PLEASE US

Ultimately these thing we are seeking out are just adding to the fog and confusion of life. We occupy ourselves with so much garbage that we lose track of why we are really here. Much like trying to multi-task, we are just not concentrating on the job at large.

That job, to live and live with a pure soul.

Let us simplify and cut out the nonsense. Let us begin to appreciate the small things of life and be content with what you have.

Let us observe the moment, and do nothing, nothing needs to be done, nothing needs to happen, just let it be and do… nothing.

The answers all arrive in silence.
