Accepting Life’s Vision

“We can either decide now to full embrace everything, or we can attempt to plan every detail and dismay when it all goes wrong”.

The Social construct

The society we live is pretty much made up for us to work on auto-pilot. We go to work (usually from 9-5) and then we come back, eat, do an activity, watch TV and sleep. Then the weekends come and we blow it all away in a state of intoxication and before you know it… Monday is back on our doorstep and the morose begins again.

We are living a life of routine.

The life where everything is to plan and we carefully allow ourselves to have designated periods of pleasure. But the problem is, these pleasures are so few and far between that we are often left feeling worse than when we undertook them.

In our depression when then plan a course back to the top. We execute each step to precision to reach a designated goal, and then… it all comes tumbling down, even if we did achieve what we wanted, still that same feeling… emptiness.

Allowing Things To Be

So it’s very clear here that when we try and plan our lives it just doesn’t go the way we want it. It appears there is a force at large which is governing things (call it God, Universe, Nature etc.). Life is divinely planned and yes we do have a free will, it is like deciding which road to take on your journey. But… do not expect to turn up in London if you take the road leading to Manchester.

I believe the first thing one should do to combat the extremities of life is to accept it. Now accepting doesn’t mean falling into your desires and all those things which lead you further down the road of disappointment; but actively embracing life, connecting to our true selves and allowing life to govern us.

Instead of asking what the meaning of life is rather we should ask something else; what is life asking of us?

We should aim to dig deep down back into our childhood, find what we truly love to do, and accept the call to adventure.

Translate life’s gift into your actions, after all it is not you who is in control.download (1)

The Power of Doing Things You Hate

Mediocrity leads to an unfulfilled life. If we dare to get out of our comfort zone and try things which are difficult and uncomfortable, we could find ourselves looking back on these crucial moments as those which changed the course of our destiny.

Difficulty

We all want to grow in life and become the best version of ourselves. But ask yourself for a second, how many people actually do this? How many people actually learn, grow and create new opportunities?

The sad thing is that not many do. A lot of times when we see difficulty or something which feels uncomfortable, we run as fast as we can away from it. It doesn’t feel right, and it makes one feel nervous. We fear failure, and lots of things go through our minds. The end result? We decline and walk away from the situation.

We have just missed out on a great occasion, something which could have answered the questions we currently hold.

However, if we were to change our mind-set towards this; if we were to dive into this difficulty, how much could one really learn and achieve?

It could be the start of something special…

Challenges

Dive in

My message to you in this short article is clear.

Dive in, go forth and boldly face the difficulty in front of you, if in doubt, do it!

Often when going into these endeavours, you will feel uncomfortable, everthing will be telling you to collapse and go back to your inner cave.

But do not.

Throw yourself of the edge of the mountain.

That’s the only way you’ll learn how to fly.

The Attitude of Gratitude

“Gratitude in advance is the most powerful creative force in the universe”

Neale Donald Walsh

Look around you, look very close, you will begin to see that in today’s society many people are not grateful for what they have, as a matter of fact they behave in a totally opposite way. We live in a society where many people are complaining about their life and circumstances. A way out of this, offered by the elite is to keep attempting to make one self better, through the possession of materialistic items, however, this does not satisfy us. It actually makes us want more and thereby not appreciate what we currently have. We live in a World where a lot of us (me included) are never truly grateful for the miracle of life, and for the fact we are alive… right here, right now.

life is great

Why / How is Gratitude so powerful?!

Employing gratitude is an EXTREMELY powerful process. When you stop, reflect on life and be truly grateful for what you have your life will begin to change. You will genuinely be happy. Gone will be the days of claiming to be a happy once a future goal is reached, you can choose to be happy NOW.

Gratitude is the key to happiness. Daily practice of gratitude can ironically allow you to reach your goals faster. Ever heard the saying ‘fake it till you make it’? Well this is similar to gratitude, be happy now, be grateful now, feel how you would in your ideal life now, and guess what? One of the most important steps towards your goal is achieved. Be grateful for the flowers outside, your family helping you out, a stranger giving you way in traffic, and even for the food on your plate. Some of the most happiest people are those with nothing at all to their name. They have nothing, yet somehow, have everything.

How to practice gratitude

Practising gratitude is a very simple process and need not be complicated, however, there are many different ways to practice gratitude. Here are some of my favourites.

  • Gratitude Journal – Every day, find three new things to be grateful about and write them down in as much detail as possible. Whenever feeling ungrateful, simply refer back to your gratitude journal.

    elements
    Here are some examples
  • Speak gratitude into existence – As you go about your day, attempt to notice as many things to be grateful for as possible. When you see something, marvel at it, do not judge it, simply be grateful for its beauty, and say it out loud.

    images
    How beautiful
  • Give more thanks – Saying thank you is one, if not the most powerful form of gratitude you can employ. Say thank you for everything. For your life, for the postman delivering you valuable letters, your mother for her home-cooked foods. Say thank you more, and you will receive more.

I am

Lastly, attempt to always see life with the attitude of gratitude. Be genuinely grateful, and you will be happy, I guarantee it.

The real reason why I train (and why you should too!)

The pain of training, spewing your guts all over the floor, or the pleasure of training doing what you find fun… which one to do? More importantly, which one resonates with you?

Pain

Pain comes part and parcel with training there is no escaping it, however, what defines pain?

The training style I love to partake in is bodybuilding, and have been training for around 8 months. There are many different ways to train, but I prefer a mix of controlled, heavy to start and then finishing the workout with high-rep (burnout) pumps. The thing is it hurts, but there is something about the pain that I love (call me crazy). Now if i was to go crazy and force myself to do things I did not want to do (like 10 sets of hack squats!) then that would be pain I do not like, and guess what? It won’t grant me results. Forcing yourself do something you really hate will eventually have its toll. This means it is important you define really what kind of pain you are willing to endure.

If you give up at the first hurdle of pain, you have lost out on lots of upcoming pleasure

Pleasure

Often after reaching the end of a good, hard training session, comes those endorphin’s, that amazing feeling of pleasure.

Have you ever realised that after giving it your all and leaving everything out there (under that Barbell) that you will come out of the gym with one of the best high’s ever known to man?

They say with pain comes pleasure, and this is certainly the case with bodybuilding. You put in the work, you endure pain, you see results, and this motivates you to keep going, thereby facing the pain yet again. Like i said, with pain comes pleasure, intense pleasure.

Arnold Schwarzenegger sums it up perfectly

So.. how should YOU train?

Now we arrive at the most important part of the article, how should I as an individual train?

Well firstly it depends on what you are training for, an athlete training for a marathon will be training much differently to that of a sprinter. However, what ever form of training you do, you MUST find a way to enjoy it. The most successful athletes in life are those who do what they love and therefore work extremely hard towards that particular endeavour. what they love, because they work extremely hard towards that particular endeavour.

So remember guys, train hard and enjoy the pain by doing what you love!

How to pick yourself up after failure

Failing is never final until you accept it as a reality. Do not allow the failure of something to define you and stay permanent…

Failure is a part of life

Life is full of many obstacles and many a time these obstacles require repeated attempts to overcome. Without failure, life would simply be, a failure. Failing or failure allows us to grow as individuals and learn from our mistakes. Going forward in the future it helps us attack that same facet in a more intelligent way, yielding success. If we were to go through life without failing at anything then guess what? We would never achieve ANYTHING.

faiilure.jpg

So, how do I deal with failure…?

There are many ways to deal with failure, but first and foremost is to not allow failure to stop you in your tracks. Never let failure make you quit at something (for good) otherwise it will be come permanent.

Here are some tips to deal with failure on an emotional and physical level

  • Learn from your mistakes – The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again expecting a successful outcome. Failing at something allows us to determine what we did wrong and what can be improved for next time. Observe how you handed a certain failed situation and look at what you could do differently next time. Over time this persistent assessment will bring success and teach you many things about life, and yourself
  • Pick yourself straight back up – The best thing you can do after failing at something is to get back up and try, try again. Its important not to dwell on something which has gone wrong (although brief periods of reflection are essential) as it can lead to depression (which I will talk about it another article). Dust yourself off, get up, and NEVER GIVE UP!
  •  Realise it is building your character and passion – When you fail at something, it can either make you more hungry to achieve it in the future, or demoralised; both are great character building traits. Firstly with regards to your passion; failure can make you more hungry and help you realise your true passion. The repeated failures may allow you to build a solid will, and in the process realise your true heartfelt passion. And then being demoralised. Sure it can hurt, and you may quit. But those dark moments are when all the work is done, those moments are the times no one see’s, they can just speculate whilst you at standing these, with your hand raised, successful.
