How To Enjoy Your Weight Training

Whatever your goal, whether it be building muscle or losing fat, enjoying your training is actually a very important factor in your results. Simply put, if you do enjoy it (and actually dread it) then how much longer will you continue before throwing in the towel?

Information Overload

Do me a favour, go to Google and type in type in the search bar ‘How to Build Muscle’ or ‘How to Lose Fat’; I guarantee what you will find is swathes of information on these aspects. Difference techniques, different timings, different philosophy, everybody is suddenly an expert.

Now don’t get me wrong, the Internet and the information on it are great things, and when you used correctly can reap great benefits. I learnt a lot from the Internet in my early days.

However, the problem is that there are so many versions or success stories of people doing things a certain way, that we get caught up believing in the hype and want to try it for ourselves.

We are all looking for a quick fix. 


Why Enjoying It Is Crucial

There is an old adage that goes along the lines that ‘The Answers Are Within’. If we can just consciously choose to listen to ourselves, we may just start to find the answer.

Do not do something you hate, if you are constantly dreading it and glad its over, then it’s clear you need to try something else.

Always do what you find enjoyable and fun, and then go and master it.

Once you have done this, be sure to always listen to that voice within.

Not the voice motivated by fear, but that of excitement, that of ‘Oh I wouldn’t mind trying this out’

The benefit of change

“Life is nothing else but change, and change is nature’s delight”


Change is an evanescent part of life. Just as humans go from cell to body to dust, so does nature change. If one should be afraid of change then why? What can take place without change?

As we are all aware, there are four seasons on this planet (majority of planet). They are Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. These seasons showed just how magnificently nature embodies change. The tree is naked and bare wallowing hastily in the ravenous wind, and yet, 6 months later, it is full of green and a serene sight to behold.

The changing of the seasons is crucial for the nourishment of life on this planet. Without Spring there would be nothing to flourish in summer; and without Autumn there would be nothing to recover in winter.

In the colder months we will prepare accordingly and likewise in the warmer months. It really is amazing how nature embraces change, and I believe we should be the same.

Learn from the changes

Each seasons brings forth a different fruit, and a different element of growth.

I remember back when I started my bodybuilding days, there would be certain weeks/ months where I would be in love with in non-stop; and other months/ weeks where I would maintain, evaluate and rest.

Each of these periods are crucial for the development of the human being and also the development of a worthy ideal.

Each change will bring its own knowledge spurt, what comes up must come down, and as long as we embrace it, then what can stop us truly?11216292266_7a2a89a5b7_b

So go forth, embrace the change and learn. Build solid foundations and expect the unexpected.


The real reason why I train (and why you should too!)

The pain of training, spewing your guts all over the floor, or the pleasure of training doing what you find fun… which one to do? More importantly, which one resonates with you?


Pain comes part and parcel with training there is no escaping it, however, what defines pain?

The training style I love to partake in is bodybuilding, and have been training for around 8 months. There are many different ways to train, but I prefer a mix of controlled, heavy to start and then finishing the workout with high-rep (burnout) pumps.The thing is it hurts, but there is something about the pain that I love (call me crazy). Now if i was to go crazy and force myself to do things I did not want to do (like 10 sets of hack squats!) then that would be pain I do not like, and guess what? It won’t grant me results. Forcing yourself do something you really hate will eventually have its toll. This means it is important you define really what kind of pain you are willing to endure.



If you give up at the first hurdle of pain, you have lost out on lots of upcoming pleasure


Often after reaching the end of a good, hard training session, comes those endorphin’s, that amazing feeling of pleasure.

Have you ever realised that after giving it your all and leaving everything out there (under that Barbell) that you will come out of the gym with one of the best high’s ever known to man?

They say with pain comes pleasure, and this is certainly the case with bodybuilding. You put in the work, you endure pain, you see results, and this motivates you to keep going, thereby facing the pain yet again. Like i said, with pain comes pleasure, intense pleasure.

So.. how should YOU train?

Now we arrive at the most important part of the article, how should I as an individual train?

Well firstly it depends on what you are training for, an athlete training for a marathon will be training much differently to that of a sprinter. However, what ever form of training you do, you MUST find a way to enjoy it. The most successful athletes in life are those who do what they love and therefore work extremely hard towards that particular endeavour. what they love, because they work extremely hard towards that particular endeavour.

So remember guys, train hard and enjoy the pain by doing what you love!












5 reasons to go to the gym after a hard day at work

After a long hard day of working for an energy firm, a day at the gym may seem like the worst idea ever imaginable, however, change your mindset about how you see the gym and you will begin to see why it could be the best remedy after a stressful day at work

Why to go to the gym after work

I used to be that guy. I would be working an 8 hour shift, and just 2 hours into it, i began to dread something, the thought of a push workout at 6pm. (For those of you who don’t know what a push workout is it is the a chest, shoulders and triceps workout). Typically this workout would take me up to 2 and a half hours, hence the bad feeling towards it. However, lately I have changed my perspective on this matter, here are 10 powerful ways that going to the gym after work can really help you.


1.) It could genuinely make you feel on top of the world

Sometimes there is nothing better than the feeling of pushing yourself in the gym, it’s as if once you push past the pain, you get a sudden energy burst and can actually walk out of the gym feeling more energized than you were when you walked in! Simply put, putting in a solid effort in a post-work gym session could make you feel real good.


2.) You will gain a new outlook on life

The feeling after a gym session can be put right up there with the best feelings in life. Once, you have given it your all those endorphin’s are released and everything seems so clear. Your belief will strengthen, and regardless what your goals are, you will believe and that is what its all about. As Earl Nightingale once said  ‘Believe and succeed’ 


3.)  It will help you realize your TRUE potential

There is nothing better than the feeling of setting and achieving goals. Working out (if you stick at it) allows you to  break past those barriers of what you believed you once were, and transform into a new force entirely. The sky is the limit, and even though work can be draining, the thought of smashing a goal of yours in the evening at the gym may bring up that excitement and allow you to actually enjoy your workout and also have something to look forward to when you finish work.


4.) You will fall into healthy friendship circles which can last for life

In life it’s never good to fall into a bad crowd, regularly going to the gym after work can allow you to make all kinds of new friends. Also its worth mentioning that birds of a feather flock together and that you are the 5 people who you spend the most time with, therefore its worth choosing wisely. The gym is a good place so start.

5.)  Your future self will thank you

Have you ever looked back and thought of what could’ve been had you stuck to something for a whole year? That’s exactly how I feel about my YouTube channel (which I will mention in a future article). Sticking to something and being consistent will help you reap the rewards later down the line. Do it for your future you and you will look back in a years time and be proud you made the decision and stuck to it. OK, I know we are only talking about going to the gym after work and we haven’t even mentioned what form of training / goals you are aiming for, but nonetheless, go to the gym after work, stick to it, and the results will speak for themselves.
