The Way of Empathy

“Blessed is he who prefers his brother over himself”

Baha’ullah

We are caught up in a World where we are always competing with one another. We are caught up in the mode of survival, the life of an animal. We are living in the rat race. Often it does not matter what we do to other people we thinks, as, hey as long as I succeed then its all good right? But is that really the case? Is this really the way live? And more importantly, does this make you happy?

The Common Path

The path we are designated to go on through to social conditioning we are exposed to is that of competition. Often the quote ‘Dog eat dog’ is prevalent on this physical plain and it is also evident in how many competitions there are (could sports on this planet be said to be all about competition… I think so!). We are always aiming to get to the top and society is a like a pyramid, similar to the food chain. Yes, correct, we are on top of the food chain, but this does not mean we will be here forever, and more importantly, does not mean we should be trying to get in front of our fellow human beings.

As a matter of fact maybe we should encourage others to succeed before ourselves?

The Blessing

When you truly care for others you suddenly realize how all of your burdens appear ever so light. Better yet truly understanding, caring and helping others, I believe, is the way to live on this planet. Similar to how a branch, when cut off from a tree, ceases to be part of it any longer, so we, when we become selfish and self-centered, cut ourselves off from, everyone else, which means we cut ourselves of from OURSELVES.

True salvation is helping others and becoming one with them; after all we are all part of the same experience.

Try it out for a week, a month, a year, I guarantee you will never look back!
